VISIT TANGIER

So different, and so close.

I am José Manuel García Toyos; possibly we know each other, we have a mutual friend or you are going to stay in a hotel or apartment in Tangier where I already did. During my stays I have varied accommodations precisely to  discard some, confirm that I know the one you have selected and I was satisfied with its quality/location/price ratio. So if you have received the link  the website from the accommodation you have selected, I think you will be too.

Many of you know me for being  host of AIRBNB and BOOKING in Gijón (Plaza Mayor) between 2016 and 2020. And since 2019 I have been traveling frequently to Tangier, a city that has hooked me for its light, climate, beauty, and contrasts with respect to Europe and within itself (Medina, Centers, Surroundings). And, also, for its safety.

In addition to strolling through its main points of interest, I like to enjoy it calmly, for one last quality: the friendliness and tranquility of its inhabitants, cafes and parks.

A first approximation:

Tangier is a large city that, with more than a million and a half inhabitants, disputes Fez and Rabat to be the second most populous city in Morocco after Casablanca.  And although tourism is gaining importance, the city has its own dynamism as it is one of the main industrial hubs in the country, especially in the automotive (Renault-Nissan), aeronautical (Safran), plastics,  household appliances, textile sectors and logically with numerous auxiliary service companies.

If you visit it for the first time, the minimum duration I recommend to know its main points of interest:

2 days, three nights, for the center and surroundings.

And one additional day/night for each of the nearby cities worth visiting, Asilah (25 kms.), Tetouan (60) and Chefchaouen (120). The respective pages for each one include photos and information.

What will you find on the website?

1) My contact. Send me an email to visitatanger@gmail.com with your email/contact and I will answer the particular questions that will help you organize the trip.

2º) Two walks so that you can visit the main points of interest in the city independently; the pages "Medina" and "Ville Nouvelle" describe each itineraries and the highlights of each.

3) Other places of interest in the same city. Page "Otros lugares"

4) The essential surroundings: Hercules Caves, Cape Spartel and Perdicaris Forest. Page "Alrededores"

5th) The page "Mis Lugares Favoritos" (my favourite sites), including a short video with the atmosphere of a live performance in the Medina

6) General information and advice. Page "Consejos"

7) Information and photos of nearby cities. Pages Asilah, Chefchaouen, Tetouan.

8) A link to the website "Visitmarocco.com", Official website of the Moroccan National Tourist Office.

And finally, if we meet in Tangier, a first coffee or tea to welcome you and guide you personally.

I remain at your disposal for any questions or clarifications

I Thank you for spreading the word and recommending the website to your contacts.
